It was a passenger departed with the BEK Air’s flight Z9 100 to Astana. The lucky passenger was Zharkynbekov Tasbulat.
In 2010, Almaty International Airport JSC serviced its 3 millionth passenger. For two years, having stood all problems and echoes of the global economic crisis, the Almaty airport achieved the figure of the 4 millionth passengers. We celebrated this event presenting a memorable gift 40-inchTVand a certificate.
The event was dedicated to the opening of a new passenger Terminal 2 designated to service passengers departing with domestic flights. For satisfaction of passengers’ needs, the Almaty airport management took decision to reconstruct the old building and connect it to the main Terminal using a gallery. While modernizing the Terminal 2, the state-of-the-art technologies and the latest equipments were applied. The passengers waiting for their flights in the terminal can spend their time in comfortable bars, watch the TV, and there is a Mother and child room as well. The toilets are specially equipped for handicapped persons.
As planned, the first floor is reconstructed for domestic arrivals. There are elevators enabling the passengers to move from the air bridges, and belt conveyors for the baggage claim. The second floor will be used as an assembly point of the domestic departures.
This measure will enable to increase the airport capacity up to 1600 passengers per hour, and cope with the growing passenger flow in the nearest 3-4 years. Currently, the average passenger flow of the Almaty International Airport is 10.950 persons per day.
The BEK AIR has quite recently entered the market of the regular aviation operations in Kazakhstan, and it has become the people’s airlines, as its fares favorably differ from the fares of other airlines, and they are affordable for people. The BEK AIR operates Fokker-100 for its flights. And today the BEK AIR welcomes its 100 thousandth passenger.
